This smoothie started out a beautiful orange color. But given the chance, I could not miss the opportunity to add some leafy greens to it, which turned it green. While the color may have changed, the flavor remained absolutely delicious. I figured since it now looked more like a zombie, it would be named the Halloween Pumpkin Spice Smoothie.
Pumpkins are incredibly nutritious. They have fiber and pectins which aid with digestion, beta-beta-carotene vitamin A to help for eye sight, potassium to regulate blood pressure and tons of immune supporting vitamins and minerals. If those are not reasons enough to throw some in your smoothie, then I do not what is.
While I absolutely love the taste of pumpkin spice lattes, I do not like all of the sugar and junky ingredients they put into the. Here is a smoothie version of a pumpkin spice latte, loaded with vitamins, minerals, protein and so much goodness.
Ingredients
1/2 c almond milk
1/2 c water
1 frozen banana
1 tbs ground flax
1 tbs chia seeds
1 scoop protein powder
1/2 c pumpkin puree
1/2 tsp pumpkin spice
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 kale stalks
1/2 cup ice
Directions
Place all of the ingredients into a high speed blender. Start blending on low and gradually increase to high. Blend for about 20 minutes. Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy.
