What the Bloat (Belly)
Updated: Feb 7

Your mom was right! It's what's on the inside that counts. At least when it comes to your bloated belly.
Now as a mom yourself, it's likely that you have accepted your bloated belly as just a part of life. Just living through the discomfort on a daily basis, opting out of your favorite jeans and into those comfy sweatpants. I completely get that.
The thing is, the underlying cause of a bloated belly is much more concerning than just not being able to fit into your favorite form fitting clothes. Belly bloat is our body's way of saying that something is not working right, and we should really pay attention.
Think of your bloated belly as waving a big red flag!
What may often be the cause of belly bloat is something called dysbiosis. Within our digestive tract, more specifically in the small intestine, reside a whole bunch of good and bad bacteria. It's our internal ecosystem. While we can not fully get rid of the bad bacteria, we always want to ensure there are more good guys than bad guys. When the opposite is true, that's when we have dysbiosis and belly bloat.
Dysbiosis does not end with a bloated belly. It can lead to brain fog, chronic yeast infections, chronic illness, sinus infections, and so much more.
Another possible cause of bloating can be something called leaky gut. Within our intestinal tract is a super thin layer separating our digestive tract from our blood source. It's a barrier to ensure that only the good things get into our bloodstream, and the bad stuff keeps making its way down, and eventually eliminated.
Leaky gut occurs when the permeability of the intestinal lining has become compromised.
When this happens, things that should never enter your bloodstream are now making their way to your organs. Something as innocent as an avocado toast, with leaky gut, can be responsible for your thyroid dysfunction, specifically hashimoto's.
Some of the symptoms of leaky gut are gas, bloating, cramps, and even aches and pains. There is that big red flag being waved again.
The bottom line is that a bloated belly should never be ignored.
That is why I am going to be offering a FREE 3-Days to Reduce Your Belly Bloat event. As a mom myself, I know how certain lifestyle factors may appear innocent, but can in fact be contributing to that bloat and the possibility of so many other problems. Think eating your kids leftover snacks.
